The world's first: submerged liquid-cooled energy storage power station


Meizhou Baohu Energy Storage Power Station Project, a demonstration project of Guangdong Provincial Energy Administration and China Southern Power Grid Corporation, is constructed by China Southern Power Grid Peak Regulation and Frequency Modulation (Guangdong) Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., with a construction scale of 70MW/140MWh. It is the first independent energy storage project at the grid side of China Southern Power Grid, which can effectively promote the local consumption of new energy, ensure the safe and stable operation of the power system, and effectively drive and promote local economic and social development.


The project selects the immersion liquid-cooled energy storage system newly developed by Zhuhai Kechuang Energy Storage Technology Co., Ltd., which can effectively improve the operation safety of the energy storage system. The project has entered the operation stage and is the first demonstration project in China and even in the world to apply immersion thermal management technology to electrochemical energy storage system.



Submerged liquid-cooled energy storage: advantages and prospects


This time, the application of immersion liquid-cooled thermal management technology in the field of electrochemical energy storage is the first time. The surrounding hollow battery PACK is completely immersed in the coolant, and the battery core is in direct contact with the coolant. Compared with the air-cooled energy storage system and the plate-changed liquid-cooled energy storage system, in extreme cases, thermal runaway occurs without open fire, ensuring high safety and zero risk of the system.
