Grasp the "tuyere" hydrogen energy, energy storage, etc. to become a p

From the scenic base in the Gobi Desert in the northwest to the pumped storage power station in the northeast, a number of major new energy projects have been intensively started recently. Grasping the "air gap" in multiple places has led to new trends in industrial layout. Trillion-level tracks such as hydrogen energy and energy storage are slowly unfolding, not only providing a strong guarantee for energy security, but also injecting impetus into economic growth.

A batch of major projects are under construction

In March, the Gobi Desert, not far from the Yellow River shore, was accelerated to be covered by a "photovoltaic ocean".

As the first batch of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases in the country, the 2 million kilowatt composite photovoltaic base project of the National Energy Group Ningxia Electric Power Company achieved the first phase of grid connection power generation at the end of last year. Not long ago, its supporting 100 MW/200 MWh energy storage power station was successfully connected to the grid, becoming the largest centralized electrochemical energy storage power station in the National Energy Group.

Currently, new energy has surpassed thermal power as the largest power source in Ningxia. Since being identified as the country's first comprehensive demonstration zone for new energy in 2012, the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power in Ningxia has successively exceeded 10 million kilowatts.

In the context of the accelerated transformation of global energy to low-carbon, China's new energy industry has become a bright spot in economic development. Recently, a number of major projects have been intensively commenced across the country, presenting a scene of intense enthusiasm everywhere.

At the construction site of the "standard site" of the 1 million kilowatt pilot project for the new energy base in the central and northern Kubuqi Desert, Inner Mongolia, the roar of machinery was heard constantly, and hundreds of engineering vehicles shuttled back and forth, stepping up site leveling operations. The project is the world's largest wind power photovoltaic base project developed and constructed in desert, Gobi, and desert regions. The total planned investment of the project exceeds 80 billion yuan, and the total installed capacity is 16 million kilowatts.

On March 18th, two pumped storage power stations in Daya River and Xingcheng, Liaoning, and 55 major power grid projects were jointly started, with a total investment of 33.8 billion yuan. It is expected to stimulate social investment of over 70 billion yuan and provide more than 20000 jobs of various types.

Previously, the Longdong Shandong ± 800 kV UHV DC transmission project of State Grid Corporation of China and the Yumen Pumped Storage Power Station were started. The former is the first large-scale comprehensive energy base transmission project with "integration of wind, electricity, fire, and storage" in China, while the latter is the first large-scale ground plant pumping and storage project in China. The total investment of the two projects is 30.4 billion yuan. After being put into operation, it can replace 6 million tons of coal consumption annually and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 16 million tons.

Hydrogen energy storage has become a hot track

New energy is an inevitable choice to accelerate the construction of a new energy system and achieve sustainable development in the future. The vigorous construction of major projects has played a symphony of accelerated development.

Consolidate the leading position in advantageous industries such as photovoltaic; Develop the hydrogen energy industry; Actively promote the construction of the second batch of large-scale wind power photovoltaic base projects, orderly promote the approval and commencement of the third batch of projects, develop the energy storage industry, and vigorously promote the construction of pumped storage power stations... Turning to the recently released Report on the Implementation of the 2022 National Economic and Social Development Plan and the Draft 2023 National Economic and Social Development Plan, this year's industrial development context and opportunities are vividly on the paper.

Many regions are also seizing the opportunity to accelerate the layout of new energy industries, and the coupling development of "new energy+coal power" and "new energy+energy storage hydrogen energy" has become an important direction. According to incomplete statistics, nearly 30 provinces across the country have issued new energy storage plans or new energy allocation and storage documents for the "14th Five Year Plan", and dozens of provinces (cities) and regions have issued development plans, implementation plans, or action plans for the hydrogen energy industry.

For example, according to the recently released "Implementation Plan for Carbon Peak in the Energy Sector of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region", by 2025, the installed capacity of new energy power generation in the region will exceed 50 million kilowatts, striving to reach 55 million kilowatts. At the same time, we will comprehensively promote the development of the entire chain of hydrogen energy production, transportation, and storage. By 2025, the production scale of green hydrogen will reach 80000 tons/year, and strive to build 10 hydrogen stations with a daily hydrogenation capacity of 500 kilograms or more.

New types of energy storage that can improve the power regulation and security capabilities have also become an important support for the development of new energy. At the beginning of this year, Ningxia's grid side energy storage and grid connection capacity took the lead in breaking through one million kilowatts nationwide. "It is expected that by the end of the '14th Five Year Plan', the installed capacity of new energy power generation in Ningxia is expected to reach 60 million kilowatts, with the proportion of installed power generation expected to exceed 60%. We are guiding the layout and construction of energy storage power stations, unified scheduling to ensure the efficient use of energy storage facilities, ensure the achievement of new energy utilization targets and the full time balance of electricity and electricity." said Mi Ning, Deputy Chief Engineer of State Grid Ningxia Electric Power Co., Ltd.

Multiple links in the industrial chain need to be improved

According to the plan, the total installed capacity of wind and solar power in China will reach over 1.2 billion kilowatts by 2030. Among them, the total scale of large-scale wind power and photovoltaic bases focusing on the "Sage Wasteland" region has reached 455 million kilowatts, equivalent to the installed capacity of 20 Three Gorges hydropower stations.

Correspondingly, by 2025, China's new energy storage installed capacity will reach over 30 million kilowatts. By 2025, the total scale of pumped storage production in China will reach over 62 million kilowatts, and by 2030, it will reach around 120 million kilowatts.

Song Hailiang, Chairman of China Energy Construction Group, said that entering the "14th Five Year Plan" period, China's new energy storage has moved from the research and development demonstration stage to the early stage of rapid commercialization development. Currently, there is an urgent need to accelerate the concentrated tackling of major common issues in the process of improving the new energy storage policy system, breaking through and forming a core technology system, improving the standard system, and forming a stable business model, and cultivate and form mature new energy storage integration solutions and integrated technologies as soon as possible.

The development potential of the hydrogen energy industry is also gradually being released. Gan Yong, an academician of the CAE Member, said that it is conservatively estimated that hydrogen will account for about 10% of China's terminal energy system in 2050 and 15% in 2060, becoming an important part of China's energy strategy. Hydrogen energy will work together with electricity to become the main consumer of China's terminal energy system and drive the formation of a billion billion level emerging industry.

Zhang Guoqiang, Chairman of Beijing Yihuatong Technology Co., Ltd., suggested expanding the number of fuel cell vehicle demonstration city clusters to improve quality and reduce cost through demonstration operation; Explore diversified hydrogen source supply models to promote the development of renewable energy green hydrogen; Promote the construction of hydrogen energy infrastructure and support the development of hydrogen energy production, storage, transportation, and processing industry chains; Explore financial support and carbon trading policies and measures.
